
We're starting a new blog - images are so important to our local history collections - you can find them via our catalogue, you can also find them via Picture Australia. But here we will share with you some of our favourites, especially if we can add some story or background to them.
This is Sturt St Ballarat, looking west....there have been many famous images of the street from this angle, paintings, drawings and photographs. This is one of our favourites because of the sleepy horse waiting to the left of the photo. You can also see the Galloway monument being utilised by the 'loafers'. This comes from the book titled Jubilee Sketch of Ballarat, 1887 written by William Little, a Mayor of the City. It was photographed by T. Chuck
